Redfeather to Form Elite Endurance Snowshoe Racing Team

Redfeather to Form Elite Endurance Snowshoe Racing Team

Redfeather Snowshoes announced today the formation of an elite racing squad, a team of select endurance athletes who will enjoy sponsor support from leading manufacturers within the outdoor and multi-sport industries.

The Redfeather Endurance Racing Team, presented by The North Face, will feature one dozen athletes who will be chosen primarily for their proven athletic talent and ability to serve as ambassadors for the sport and for the team’s sponsor brands. The focus of the team will be to commandeer podium positions at regional and national snowshoe race series’ throughout North America .

“We couldn’t be more excited,” said Todd Bahnub, Redfeather’s Vice President. “Pairing an eager team of elite athletes with our cutting-edge race technology and the support of our partner brands will provide an opportunity for competition never before seen in the sport of snowshoe racing. With our heritage in multi-sport and the readiness of the marketplace to take competitive snowshoeing to a whole new level, it’s time for endurance athletes to say goodbye to the off-season!”

Team athletes will benefit from wearing Redfeather’s premium race model, the R700. With its ultra-light bindings and Live-Action Hinges, designed for increased mobility and maximum speed, the R700 literally lays the tracks for other race-specific snowshoes to follow.

Athletes from across the endurance sports community are invited to apply for one of the twelve coveted team positions. With Redfeather’s roots stemming from a snow-bound triathlete’s desire to train year-round, the company hopes to draw the attention of Ironman and XTERRA athletes, as well as dedicated winter sport competitors.

Chris Miller, an outdoor industry veteran with an athletic resume that boasts national level snowshoe racing, cycling and cross-country running, along with two Hawaii Ironman Triathlon finishes, will serve as Team Manager.

“My goal for the Redfeather team is to bring together the nation’s best endurance athletes with the most sophisticated equipment, apparel and nutrition available and support them in their quest to dominate the snowshoe racing scene,” said Miller.

Partnering with Redfeather in this exciting venture are a host of premium outdoor and multi-sport brands, including The North Face, manufacturer of highly technical race apparel and outerwear; Smith Optics, an industry leader in active lifestyle and performance eyewear; GU Energy Labs, purveyors of scientifically-proven, performance-tested sports nutrition; Carmichael Training Systems, delivering personal coaching, training camps and performance testing to athletes of all abilities; Fuel Belt, providing advanced hydration systems for endurance athletes; and Triathlete Magazine, the go-to resource for multi-sport news and information.

Athletes interested in applying for the Redfeather Endurance Racing Team selection are invited to contact Chris Miller, at strategicconsultingcm@yahoo.com. Applications will be accepted until October 1st, 2009, with the final team roster announced shortly thereafter.
